Funk》夺下2015年上半年最畅销歌曲，光是今年的销量就高达144万。根据英国官方排行榜公司，这首歌曲总销量达193万。去年12月，就位列英国单曲榜冠军，而且占据榜首长达7周之久。此外，《Uptown
Funk》拿下了澳大利亚，加拿大，新西兰，爱尔兰，英国和美国等多国的单曲榜的冠军，发布当周就创造了英国249万媒体数据流的纪录。
放克（魂克）是一种美国的音乐类型，起源于1960年代中期至晚期，非裔美国人音乐家将灵魂乐、灵魂爵士乐和节奏蓝调融合成一种有节奏的、适合跳舞的音乐新形式。放克“不再强调旋律与和声，而强调电贝斯与鼓的强烈节奏律动”。放克歌曲通常建立在单一和弦上的衍伸性即席伴奏，不同于节奏蓝调和灵魂乐围绕在和弦进行（chord progression）。放克采用的和弦扩展形式与鲍勃爵士一样，例如，将小三和弦扩展为七和弦、十一和弦，或在属七和弦上转位到九和弦。
